A New TV.

The husband has been wanting to purchase a new TV for the longest time. I really wouldn’t mind if he buys a new one. In fact, I’d be so excited as I am a TV person. However, we need to be practical especially now that times are hard. We have more than enough TV sets in the house, so I guess we’ll just wait till one of them conks out. And then that’s the time that we will purchase a new TV. However, Buy.com has got some really tempting electronics, TV sets included, all at very good prices. I am not sure if I can resist these items.

Excited For Summer.

I am excited for summer. We are going to a nearby beach and I really can’t wait for my son to experience the beach. I know he is going to love it. I am already shopping little by little for our vacation needs so I won’t be rushing to the mall at the last minute. I am so looking forward to take lots of photos during our short getaway, especially since it’s a new place for us. Going to a new place gets me inspired to take photos. On my wishlist of new places to visit is Azul Beach Hotel. This is in Riviera Maya and it is a kid- and family-friendly resort, just perfect for us since we always bring our kid wherever we go. I love that we can enjoy their beautiful beach and all the pampering the resort offers. And at the same time I will never need to worry on my kid’s needs and entertainment as the resort will take care of it as well. This really sounds like a perfect family vacation for us.

It’s A Party.

I am starting to prepare for my son’s party in school. He’ll be turning 5 next month and he really can’t wait to have his very own party. He even said that he wanted to have lots of many guests. hee-hee. Of course, the party will just be a small one and will be held during their snack time. Just the birthday song, blowing of candles and of course, food from Jollibee. I am right now looking at various promotional products from usimprints.com. Their tote bags will make really nice and personalized loot bags, along with their pens and pencils. I will just need to add some stickers and some sweets then it’s good to go. I want the giveaways to be a little more special and more stuffed so I plan to get a few items everytime I go to the mall or shop online.

Three Lenses Every Photographer Should Own.

I am hoping this year I can once again try my hand on photography. I haven’t focused on the hobby last year and I wasn’t able to get new “toys” for me also. I will be saving this year so I can get myself a gift come Christmas. Anyway, I came across these 3 lenses that every photographer, newbies especially, should own, from Digital Photography School, while helping DH browse for muscle builders. Yes, he is seriously considering getting into shape as he is nit getting any younger. He realized that he should start taking care of himself.

Anyway, back to the lenses.

1. The general purpose zoom.
For APS-C cameras, something in the 18-50mm range is best… for 35mm format cameras, a 24-70mm will work. This will give you the ability to go fairly wide while also being able to zoom into objects off in the distance. This lens might be your kit lens, but it should preferably be fairly fast (a fixed f/2.8 if possible) to give you greater control over depth of field. It makes a great “walkabout” lens when you aren’t sure what you will be shooting.

2. The macro lens.
50mm. Having a macro lens opens up a whole new world of tiny objects to photograph. Also, if you do any type of product photography (jewelry, food, etc.) this lens will allow you to capture a much greater level of detail than is possible with non-macro lenses.

3. The telephoto zoom.
The telephoto zoom should be in the general range of 70-200mm with a maximum aperture of at least f/4 (faster is nice though). This will give you a lot of distance to work with and a very shallow depth of field to bring focus to your subjects. For faster moving objects, the bigger aperture will allow you to shoot at faster shutter speeds which will help capture moving objects (birds, sports) too. This is also an excellent portrait lens as the focal length minimizes distortion and narrows the angle of view to fill the frame with your subject.

Sooner or Later.

To Do.

As much as I would like to stay home tomorrow {not to rest, but to finish some pending chores}, I need to make a trip to the mall. This weekend is pretty loaded so tomorrow is the only free day that I have.

First stop, grocery. I have an ample stock of fish and chicken so I only need to get some veggies, my supply of carrots, apples, DH’s vitamins, womens vitamins for me and some snack for DS’s school’s family day on Sunday.

I then need to get red shirts for the 3 of us. We belong to the red group for the family day and surprise, surprise, neither DH and I have red shirts.

A classmate of DS is having a class birthday party this Friday so I will be getting a gift for her, too.

I wonder if I can setup a lunch date with a balikbayan friend as I won’t be able to make it this Saturday.

Love.
