Been reading nice reviews about this camera. Do you think Christmas is a good excuse to get this one?

Pro:

* Joystick is nearly as useful as a command dial
* Extremely low distortion at wide angle and telephoto is achieved with in-camera JPEG correction
* Well controlled chromatic aberration at wide angle, and essentially none at telephoto
* Very good corner sharpness
* Good viewfinder accuracy
* Better saturation control than LX2
* Quite good detail up to ISO 400

Con:

* Menu system is low res and quirky

* Slide show mode crops images
* Closest macro image is only sharp at the very center
* ISO 800, 1,600, and 3,200 have yellow and purple color blotches in incandescent light
* Slow startup time
* Slow buffer clearing
* Mediocre autofocus times
* Very high barrel distortion at both wide angle and telephoto, although it’s masked by in-camera JPEG correction you can’t disable
* Silkypix Raw converter silently applies barrel distortion correction to the Raw images
